Jing Chen, GVSU Psychology - Grand Connections Program
Mar. 18, 2026
For about five years, Jing Chen, Psychology Professor, has been running a co-mentoring program in the Psychology Department called Grand Connections. The goals of this program are many, but the main goals are to connect students with older adults, to, in part, help combat ageism and show that both younger and older people have something in common, and can learn from each other. The program has been very successful in Psychology. However, the program is necessarily small because we do not have a lot of access to the necessary resources. |

Carlos will meet us at Peppinos at 8 am. Monica will greet everyone with a sign in and ask everyone to watch a short safety video if did not watch prior to meeting. Everyone is required to watch the video and sign the form of understanding. Each person will have a vest to wear and can wear optional gloves to pick up items and place in a garbage bag. Filled bags will be left at the edge of Lake Michigan Drive. Carlos will be available to deliver each volunteer to their start location and pick up to return to Peppinos. Optional to park across the street from GVSU. Estimated time to complete is 60-80 minutes.
Thank you to all of our volunteers for their time, service and labor to help keep our highways clean and safe!
